Stacey Dash At The 2016 Academy Awards Ceremonies : The Painful Industry Joke That Liberal Hollywood Could Never Get

staceydash1

“MY  ACTING  OPPORTUNITIES  HAVE  CEASED  BECAUSE  OF  MY  POLITICAL  BELIEFS.

I  AM  BEING  PERSECUTED  IN  HOLLYWOOD.  I  HAVE  BEEN  BLACKLISTED.

MY  AGENTS  HAVE  DROPPED  ME.  I  HAVE  NOT  AUDITIONED  IN  OVER  A  YEAR  BECAUSE  OF  MY  CONSERVATIVE  BELIEFS  AND  WHAT  I  STAND  FOR.

BUT  I  KNOW  THAT  THIS  IS  WHAT  GOD  WANTS  ME  TO  DO.

AND  SO  WITH  THAT,  I  WILL  STAND  AND  I  WILL  DO  IT  BECAUSE  I  KNOW  THAT  WHAT  GOD  WANTS  FOR  ME  NO  MAN  WILL  KEEP  FROM  ME.”

( STACEY  DASH )

At  the  2016  Oscar  Awards  ceremonies  last  February,  Chris  Rock  ( who  absolutely  and  positively  nailed  the  opening  monologue  with  pitch-perfect  perspective  and  tone )  introduced  actress  STACEY  DASH  for  a  quick  cameo  during  said  monologue  watched  by  at  least  40  million  people  live  and  millions  more  in  clips  going  viral  on  social  media.

Talk  about  a  cringe-worthy  awkward  moment  and  a  joke  no  one  there  remotely  got.

That  was  the  Twitter  sentiment  when  Miss  Dash  surprised  Oscar  attendees  by           walking  out  onstage  as  the  new  Academy  Director  of  Diversity  Outreach.

CHRIS  ROCK :

“THE  ACADEMY  HAS  TAKEN  STEPS  TO  FIX  THIS  PROBLEM  OF  LACKING  DIVERSITY.  THAT  IS  WHY  IT  IS  MY  HONOR  TO  INTRODUCE  THE  NEW  DIRECTOR  OF  OUR  MINORITY  OUTREACH  PROGRAM.  PLEASE  WELCOME,  MISS  STACEY  DASH.”

STACEY  DASH :

“I  CANNOT  WAIT  TO  HELP  MY  PEOPLE  OUT.  HAPPY  BLACK  HISTORY  MONTH!  THANK  YOU.”

But  why  was  everyone  so  perplexed?

There  could  be  a  couple  of  explanations.  Maybe  the  people  in  the  audience  weren’t          aware  of  Stacey’s  recent  comments  about  Black  History  Month  as  well  as                  the  present  Oscar  diversity  controversy  spearheaded  by  Jada  Pinkett-Smith.

“I  SPOKE  OUT  AGAINST  BLACK  HISTORY  MONTH.

WHY  SHOULD  THERE  BE  SUCH  A  THING?  HAVEN’T  WE  HAD  MORE  THAN  JUST         ONE  MONTH’S  WORTH  OF  ACCOMPLISHMENTS??

PLUS,  I  SPOKE  OUT  AGAINST  THE  ‘# OSCARS SO WHITE’  CONTROVERSY.

MY  TAKE?  WE  NEED  TO  STOP  COMPLAINING  ABOUT  WHITE  PEOPLE  OPPRESSING  US.  WE  SHOULDN’T  BOYCOTT  THE  OSCARS.  WE  NEED  TO  SUPPORT  CHRIS  ROCK  AS  THE  HOST.

WHICH  BRINGS  ME  TO  THE  JOKE.

WHEN  THEY  ADDED  ‘ME’  TO  INCREASE  DIVERSITY,  I’M  SURE  MANY  BLACK  PEOPLE  ROLLED  THEIR  EYES.

I  AM  NOT  ‘BLACK  ENOUGH’  THEY  SAY.

BUT  GUESS  WHAT?  I’VE  HEARD  THAT  ALL  MY  LIFE.

I  WOULD  RATHER  BE  A  FREE  THINKING  BLACK  THAN  A  COOKIE  CUTTER  BLACK  WHO  THINKS  –  AND  VOTES  –  JUST  LIKE  ALL  MY  FRIENDS.

YES,  I’M  AN  ACTRESS  FROM  THE  SOUTH  BRONX  WHO  HAS  ALWAYS  DREAMED  OF  WINNING  AN  OSCAR.

BUT  GOD  HAS  A  GREAT  SENSE  OF  HUMOR.  AND  THIS  IS  MY  FIRST  ENCOUNTER  WITH  ONE  OF  MY  DREAMS  OF  DESTINY.

BRINGING  DIVERSITY  TO  HOLLYWOOD.  NOT  MERELY  BECAUSE  OF  COLOR               BUT  POLITICS  AS  WELL.

AFTER  ALL,  DIFFERENT  COLORS  OF  SKIN  IS  AN  EASY  KIND  OF  DIVERSITY.

IDEOLOGICAL  DIVERSITY  IS  MUCH  HARDER  BECAUSE  IT  FORCES  EVERYONE               TO  COME  FACE  TO  FACE  WITH  ACTUAL  BELIEFS.

HOLLYWOOD  NEEDS  BOTH.”

( STACEY  DASH )

To  get  the  joke,  you  would  need  to  know  Dash  stated  on  several  occasions  that            Black  History  Month  and  the  BET  ( Black  Entertainment  Television )  awards                only  encourage  segregation.

But  more  likely,  however,  that  sound  you  heard  at  the  Academy  Awards  was  not   the  sound  of  a  joke  flopping.

IT  WAS  THE  SOUND  OF  “TOLERANCE  AND  DIVERSITY”  IN  HOLLYWOOD.

Hollywood  wants  to  envision  itself  like  Rudy  Huxtable’s  playgroup  in  “The  Cosby  Show”.  They  want  their  actors  and  actresses  to  be  Asian,  black,  redheaded  or  blonde.                They  want  the  illusion  of  diversity,  tolerance  and  open-mindedness,  even  though  they’re  much  less  ideologically  diverse  than  your  average  suburban  megachurch.                  As  Hollywood  grapples  with  its  “diversity  problem”,  they  are  aspiring  to  add  minorities  to  major  roles.

THAT  STILL  MISSES  THE  POINT.

Yes,  black  actors  and  actresses  should  have  more  roles.

BUT  IF  YOU  HAVE  A  HOLLYWOOD  CAST  THAT  LOOKS  DIFFERENT  AND                 THINKS  EXACTLY  THE  SAME,  THAT  IS  NOT  REAL  DIVERSITY.

A  HOLLYWOOD  CAST  THAT  THINKS  EXACTLY  THE  SAME.

THAT  IS  NOT  REAL  DIVERSITY.

In  their  ABSOLUTE  THIRST  FOR  DIFFERENT  VARIETIES  OF  SKIN  TONE,  Hollywood  misses  out  on  the  one  type  of  diversity  that  would  make  things  truly  interesting :  IDEOLOGICAL  DIVERSITY.

At  the  2016  Academy  Awards  ceremonies,  we  witnessed  a  rare  instance  when  Hollywood  Liberals  actually  did  encounter  a  Conservative.  And  that’s  when  their        so-called  “open-mindedness”  really  kicked  in.

That’s  WHAT  MADE  AMERICA  CRINGE  as  they  watched  the  Oscars.  It  wasn’t                the  joke  that  fell  flat.  IT  WAS  A  MOMENT  THAT  REVEALED  JUST  HOW  UNWILLING  HOLLYWOOD  IS  TO  EMBRACE  ANYONE  WHO  THINKS  DIFFERENTLY.

HOW  UNWILLING  HOLLYWOOD  IS  TO  EMBRACE  THOSE  WHO  THINK  DIFFERENTLY.

Chris  Rock  was  right.  Everything  is  not  about  sexism  or  racism.

SOMETIMES  IT’S  JUST  ABOUT  IDEOLOGICAL  AND  POLITICAL  ELITISM.

I  guess  that  truly  is  CRINGE-WORTHY  after  all.
